a bit about me:
The meaning of my work is to create an escape for people because that's the feeling that made me fall in love with film,that was my remedy to get through the hard times in my life.I always aim to make sure my audience feels some emotion . So I can make sure I recreate the reason why I fell in love with film for others. Growing up I always wanted to express myself but never felt as though my voice mattered, Ive always had a love for the film industry but when I was exposed to the actual elements and collectives of the film scene in philadelphia that is when I truly felt my voice was being heard and had meaning. I've created my media simply by trusting my voice/gut, because I've learned that when you're creating art all the doubt, opinions, judgement doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is making sure your craft is yours.I always wanted to see someone like me that I could relate to but I had to settle for looking up to someone else due to the lack of Black woman representation in media so I created a character inspired by my life events and what it's like to be me hoping that I can show little brown girls like me it's okay to be yourself.
A unique spin on the media I produce is I try to incorporate a little bit of everyone's perspective because I want to make movies that can make anyone relate to every situation/story I tell.The subjects I choose to make projects about are interesting to the viewers because I want the stories to be told from the person you wouldn't expect to receive it from, it gives a voice to that stranger you might have walked by in the street today. When you're vulnerable or depressed the smallest thing can help you get through those tough times like music,a picture, or even a scene. So I ultimately had a realization that the ability to make someone feel is a powerful quality to obtain and that's what I strive to see in my work.
